Automation

Building Automation & Controls

PLC, SCADA and DCS automation, KNX and DALI building control and low-current security systems, designed, programmed and commissioned by one team.

01Overview

Supply and engineering from one team

The automation department combines products and engineering for industrial processes and buildings: controllers and field devices, KNX and DALI lighting control, CCTV, fire detection and access control from one engineering team.

03Delivery process

From requirements to handover

  1. 01

    Functional specification

Functions, operating modes, alarms and interfaces are written down and agreed before devices are selected.

    DeliverableFunctional specification
  2. 02

    Architecture and network design

Controllers, field buses, building buses and the IP network are laid out, with segmentation following IEC 62443 principles.

    DeliverableArchitecture drawing, network plan
  3. 03

    Device selection and panels

Devices are selected for the duty and protocol, and control panels are built to IEC 61439.

    DeliverableDevice schedule, panel drawings
  4. 04

    Programming and configuration

PLC logic is written in the IEC 61131-3 languages; KNX and DALI devices are configured and documented.

    DeliverableSource code, configuration files
  5. 05

    Testing

Factory acceptance tests, scene tests and coverage checks are carried out before the system goes to site.

    DeliverableFAT report, test protocol
  6. 06

    Commissioning, training and documentation

Functions are commissioned on site, operators are trained and a project archive is handed over.

    DeliverableCommissioning record, project archive

04Standards

International standards applied

These standards form the technical basis for design and equipment selection. The exact set is confirmed for each project against the national regulations in force.

  • IEC 61131-3Programmable controllers: programming languages (ladder, function block, structured text, sequential function chart).
  • ISO/IEC 14543-3Home and building electronic systems: the KNX communication protocol.
  • IEC 62386DALI, the digital addressable lighting interface: communication, control gear and control devices.
  • IEC 62443Security for industrial automation and control systems: network segmentation and access control.
  • CEN/TS 54-14Fire detection and alarm systems: guidelines for planning, design, installation, commissioning, use and maintenance.
  • IEC 62676-4Video surveillance systems: application guidelines.

05Project types

Typical project types

  • Industrial processes and wastewater
  • Offices and hospitals
  • Hotels and residences
  • Malls and public buildings
  • Car parks and perimeters
  • Industrial facilities

06Technical notes

Technical notes and FAQ

Should we choose KNX or DALI?

They complement each other. DALI controls luminaires inside a room; KNX integrates lighting with blinds, climate and access across the building. A gateway connects the two.

Can security and fire systems share one platform?

Events can be logged in one place through integration, while fire detection remains a separate life-safety system designed to the rules that apply to the building.
