03Standards

International standards applied

These standards form the technical basis for design and equipment selection. The exact set is confirmed for each project against the national regulations in force.

  • IEC 62386DALI, the digital addressable lighting interface: communication, control gear and control devices.
  • ISO/IEC 14543-3Home and building electronic systems: the KNX communication protocol.
  • EN 50090Home and building electronic systems (HBES): general requirements, installation and EMC.
  • EN 15193-1Energy performance of buildings: energy requirements for lighting and the LENI indicator.
  • EN 12464-1Lighting of indoor workplaces: illuminance, uniformity, glare (UGR) and colour rendering.
  • EN 1838Emergency lighting: escape-route illuminance and duration of operation.

06Technical notes

Technical notes and FAQ

What is the difference between DALI-2 and D4i?

D4i extends DALI-2 with a standardised data and power interface inside the luminaire, which allows luminaire data and sensors to be read. Both remain based on IEC 62386.

When is wireless control suitable?

In renovations where new control cabling is impractical. Wired DALI or KNX is preferable for large or critical installations.
