Products we supply

Security, Fire Alarm & Low-Current Systems

CCTV, thermal cameras, fire and gas detection and access control, planned around risk, coverage and the rules for the building.

01Overview

Supply and engineering from one team

Powersense supplies cameras, recorders, detectors, panels and access-control equipment, and engineers the system: risk assessment, coverage design, storage and network sizing, integration and commissioning by our contracting team.

02Scope and process

Engineering scope and deliverables

  1. 01

    Risk assessment

Assets, threats, perimeter, entrances and critical areas are identified, and security and life-safety requirements are agreed.

    DeliverableRisk and requirements report
  2. 02

    Coverage and camera design

Camera positions, lenses and resolution are chosen from the viewing distance and the level of detail required (IEC 62676-4).

    DeliverableCamera layout, coverage plan
  3. 03

    Recording and network sizing

Storage follows camera count, bit rate and retention days. Network bandwidth, PoE budget and cabling are sized to EN 50173-1.

    DeliverableStorage and network calculation
  4. 04

    Fire and gas detection design

Detector types, zoning, panels and alarm devices are designed to the rules for the building, guided by CEN/TS 54-14.

    DeliverableFire-detection layout, cause-and-effect matrix
  5. 05

    Access control and intrusion

Doors, readers, controllers and alarm zones are defined (EN 60839-11-1, EN 50131-1) and integrated with video.

    DeliverableDoor schedule, access matrix
  6. 06

    Integration and commissioning

Events from all systems are logged in one place, and system tests, user training and documentation complete the handover.

    DeliverableTest records, operation manual

03Standards

International standards applied

These standards form the technical basis for design and equipment selection. The exact set is confirmed for each project against the national regulations in force.

  • IEC 62676-4Video surveillance systems: application guidelines.
  • CEN/TS 54-14Fire detection and alarm systems: guidelines for planning, design, installation, commissioning, use and maintenance.
  • EN 54-2Fire detection and alarm systems: control and indicating equipment.
  • EN 50131-1Intrusion and hold-up alarm systems: system requirements.
  • EN 60839-11-1Electronic access control systems: system and component requirements.
  • EN 50173-1Generic cabling systems: general requirements.

06Technical notes

Technical notes and FAQ

How is recording storage calculated?

Storage equals the number of cameras multiplied by the bit rate and the retention time. The bit rate depends on resolution, frame rate and compression, with a margin for motion.

Is fire detection part of the security system?

Fire detection is designed as a separate life-safety system, and integration only adds event visibility. We follow the rules that apply to the building; approval remains with the competent fire authority.
