Why this luminaire
Lotus: comfortable light for interiors
Lotus is an ALKAN® interior luminaire. It is designed for offices, schools, shops and public buildings, where visual comfort matters as much as efficiency. We design to EN 12464-1 in DIALux evo, so every room gets the light its tasks require.

Lighting design criteria
EN 12464-1 sets the minimum average illuminance on the task area for each type of work or room.
An upper limit for discomfort glare from the luminaires, set per task.
Minimum uniformity across the task area and a minimum colour rendering index for each task.
Engineering notes
Mounting options vary by model. The layout follows the EN 12464-1 calculation for each room.
Optics and beam angles are defined per variant. We compare them in DIALux evo with your geometry and pick the one that reaches the target with the fewest luminaires.
No dimming interface is specified for this luminaire. If your project needs one, we check the options with the manufacturer before we quote.
Install and connect following the instructions supplied with the luminaire. Clean the cover periodically to keep the designed light levels; the calculation already includes a maintenance factor.
Certification and standards
CE: the manufacturer’s EC declaration of conformity under Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (January 2025) names the AKPAL series.
Coverage is stated as published by ALKAN®. Certificate copies come with every offer.

Questions we hear
Can it replace my existing luminaires?
In most retrofit projects, yes. We check the existing mounting points and the target values in a calculation before we quote, so you know the result in advance.
What tolerances apply to these values?
Tolerances: power +5%, luminous flux −10%, efficacy −5%. Our calculations take this into account.
