Why this luminaire

Metro Aluminum: comfortable light for interiors

Metro Aluminum is an ALKAN® interior luminaire. It is designed for offices, schools, shops and public buildings, where visual comfort matters as much as efficiency. We design to EN 12464-1 in DIALux evo, so every room gets the light its tasks require.

Built for the job

Extruded aluminium body

Aluminium draws heat away from the LEDs, which protects light output and lifetime.

Opal polycarbonate diffuser

The diffuser turns the LED points into an even, softer light surface.

−20 °C to +45 °C

The operating range.

220–240 VAC

Mains supply.

60,000 hours

LED lifetime.

Colour rendering Ra>80

Colour rendering index.

Where it fits

Offices

Workstations, meeting rooms and corridors.

Education and health

Classrooms, laboratories and clinics.

Retail and public spaces

Shops, showrooms, lobbies and public buildings.

Lighting design criteria

Maintained illuminance

EN 12464-1 sets the minimum average illuminance on the task area for each type of work or room.

Glare limit (UGR)

An upper limit for discomfort glare from the luminaires, set per task.

Uniformity and Ra

Minimum uniformity across the task area and a minimum colour rendering index for each task.

Engineering notes

Mounting

Mounting options vary by model. The layout follows the EN 12464-1 calculation for each room.

Choosing the optic

Optics and beam angles are defined per variant. We compare them in DIALux evo with your geometry and pick the one that reaches the target with the fewest luminaires.

Controls

No dimming interface is specified for this luminaire. If your project needs one, we check the options with the manufacturer before we quote.

Maintenance

Install and connect following the instructions supplied with the luminaire. Clean the cover periodically to keep the designed light levels; the calculation already includes a maintenance factor.

Certification and standards

CE: the manufacturer’s EC declaration of conformity under Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (January 2025) names the AKUTL series.

CE 2025 (PDF)

The LED driver is ENEC-certified. The luminaire itself has no ENEC licence of its own.

Coverage is stated as published by ALKAN®. Certificate copies come with every offer.

Datasheets for every variant are in the variants table on this page; LDT/IES photometric files are available on request.

Questions we hear

Can it replace my existing luminaires?

In most retrofit projects, yes. We check the existing mounting points and the target values in a calculation before we quote, so you know the result in advance.

What tolerances apply to these values?

Tolerances: power +5%, luminous flux −10%, efficacy −5%. Our calculations take this into account.
