Why this luminaire

Planet Canopy: sealed light for damp and dusty areas

Planet Canopy is a sealed ALKAN® luminaire. It is made for car parks, workshops, technical rooms, stairwells and canopies, where moisture and dust would shorten the life of an open fitting. We plan it to EN 12464-1 in DIALux evo.

Built for the job

Die-cast aluminium body

Aluminium draws heat away from the LEDs, which protects light output and lifetime.

4 mm clear tempered glass

Tempered glass protects the LEDs and optics and is easy to keep clean.

Dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets (EN 60529).

Glare limit (UGR)

An upper limit for discomfort glare from the luminaires, set per task.

Uniformity and Ra

Minimum uniformity across the task area and a minimum colour rendering index for each task.

Mounting

Keep cable glands and seals tight so that the IP rating is maintained after installation.

Choosing the optic

Optics and beam angles are defined per variant. We compare them in DIALux evo with your geometry and pick the one that reaches the target with the fewest luminaires.

Controls

No dimming interface is specified for this luminaire. If your project needs one, we check the options with the manufacturer before we quote.

Maintenance

Install and connect following the instructions supplied with the luminaire. Clean the cover periodically to keep the designed light levels; the calculation already includes a maintenance factor.

Certification and standards

CE: the manufacturer’s EC declaration of conformity under Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (January 2025) names the AKBEL series.

The LED driver is ENEC-certified. The luminaire itself has no ENEC licence of its own.

Questions we hear

Can it replace my existing luminaires?

In most retrofit projects, yes. We check the existing mounting points and the target values in a calculation before we quote, so you know the result in advance.

What tolerances apply to these values?

Tolerances: power +5%, luminous flux −10%, efficacy −5%. Our calculations take this into account.

Canopy luminaire for petrol stations. Injection-moulded aluminium housing with integrated cooling fins, stainless-steel fixings for mounting under the canopy, 4 mm clear tempered glass and an injection-moulded PMMA lens. Electrostatic powder coating improves resistance to corrosion and salt-laden air.
